Thursday December 11 - Ahmedabad to Kolkata

It was quite a luxury to sleep in this morning.

We had a leisurely breakfast of puri bhaji, eggs, and coffee around 9:00, came back to our cottage and finished packing.

The plan is to leave for Ahmedabad at 11:00, it's a two to two and a half hour drive from here.

One of the women from the group that came in yesterday, came to talk to us, they belong to a travel club in Chennai and take trips together nationally and internationally every 3 months or so - I am really envious.

We left on time, arrived at the airport, check in was smooth. We did have to pay for extra baggage but we knew that going in.

We are in Indigo flight 6E-135, seats 10 B & C.

The flight left on time and was basically smooth the entire duration of 2.5 hours. The baggage came quickly as well, my brother was waiting for us outside.

The roads were very congested this being rush hour, and it took us longer than usual to get to our ancestral home.

We were warmly welcomed by Purnima, my sister in law and her 5 year old grandson Ujaan, we sat and talked for a while, over tea and snacks to catch up on family matters, then went downstairs to unpack for tomorrow.

By this time my niece had come back from work as well, so some more catching up to do.

Soon it was time for dinner, Purnima had cooked a simple but tasty typical Bengali meal, which tasted so good after all the boring and highly spicy Gujarati food for the last 2 weeks.

Reluctantly said out "goodnights" and went to our bedroom downstairs. My niece Sushmi and her son Ujaan was in the bedroom next to us. He very seriously explained all the light switches, hot water system etc to me.

We all thought that it was quite hilarious since I was born in that house and lived there until I got married and came over to the U.S.
