Saturday November - 29, Ahmedabad.

We were up early and went downstairs to have an excellent buffet breakfast, of course for me this included dosa and cheese omelette.

We left at 9:00 as planned for a tour of Ahmedabad and surrounding places of interest These were Adalaj Step-well, Jumma Masjid, Teen Darwaja, and Hutheesingh Jain Temple.

Ahmedabad as a city, isn't impressive at all. It is an old and dirty city, the people are however, polite, friendly, and rule followers.

Honestly the only one that is a must see is the Adalaj step-well. Adalaj Stepwell is an unique water building in the village of Adalaj. The stepwell was built in 1499 by Muslim king Mohammed Begda for Queen Rani Roopba, wife of Veer Singh, the Vaghela chieftain. The step well or Vav', as it is called in Gujarati, is intricately carved and is five stories in depth.

Step wells were used to draw water but unlike regular well there is no rope and pulley system. One has to hand carry the bucket full of water. There are multiple people involved in getting the bucket of twater to the top.

We drove past the other sites but didn't spend much time.

We came to the hotel for lunch, rested until dinner. We have an early start tomorrow, need to leave the hotel 5:00 AM, so decided to retire for the night soon after dinner.

Location:Four Points Sheraton
